‘Death Toll’ Is A Wickedly Funny Halloween Improv Party
A Halloween party where nobody is safe and the body count keeps climbing, Death Toll turns improvised sketch comedy into a delightfully twisted drinking game packed with absurd scenarios, over-the-top deaths, and plenty of creepy mischief.
It’s that time of year again, when houses are decorated with webbing and skeletons appear on the lawns. But getting into the Halloween mood can be more than just pumpkin spice and cat ears. In fact, it can be taken to a whole other level.
Death Toll is an improvised Halloween-themed sketch comedy show. With a large ensemble of players who are different characters from scene to scene, the point is to drink every time someone dies. And, let me tell you, there are a lot of dead bodies.
This is a BYOB theater, so you can bring your own beverage, alcoholic or nonalcoholic. You don’t even need to bring a drink at all to enjoy the fun, but with a large orange “Drink!” sign flashing every time someone dies, it’s entertaining to try to keep up.
The show opens with the entire cast singing a hilarious song that lays out the rules of the performance. With a title like “Death Toll, Let’s Get Drunk,” the laughs begin immediately. The cast is enthusiastic and clearly having a great time together on stage, creating an instant sense of levity in the room. There are also reminders to drink safely and remember that the performance takes place on stage, not in the audience, so mind your manners as you imbibe.
Death Toll features inventive sketches, from a high school full of nerds and popular kids to a dark trick-or-treating tale to a hysterical take on Willy Wonka. I laughed a ton. Between the ludicrous scenarios, enthusiastic performers, various weapons, fake blood, and clever ways characters meet their ends, Death Toll‘s absurdity is a riot.
From the dripping blood on bathroom mirrors to familiar songs like “Faith,” “Footloose,” and “Somebody’s Watching Me,” Death Toll keeps the Halloween spirit alive throughout its fast-paced 90 minutes. With drinks, absurd comedy, fake blood, and a seemingly endless supply of ways to die, it’s a perfect way to celebrate the season.
Death Toll: A Halloween Drinking Game Sketch Show runs for approximately 90 minutes with no intermission. It is BYOB and recommended for ages 15 and up.
